Unit Responsibilities

SitePublish Site Administrators provide a critical role in any SitePublish implementation. Site Administrators are responsible for leading specific SitePublish implementations for their groups or units.

Site Administrator specific responsibilities include:

  • ensure University U of I Internet Use Policies, publishing guidelines and standards are followed.
  • ensure any applicable Campus publishing policies and guidelines are followed.
  • ensure AITS SitePublish security standards and usage guidelines are followed.
  • collaborate with AITS in the general provisioning of environments. 
  • participate in system testing, upgrades and patches.
  • configure access for departmental users and groups. 
  • and serve as the overall point of contact for their respective sites.

Other Unit Responsibilities

Additional roles and responsibilities for units include:

  • Site development: CSS, look and feel, content management, file management, site migration, etc. are the responsibility of the owning unit. AITS provides guidance, but limited support in these areas. 
  • Content and compliance with accessibility standards and guidelines.
  • Project management: Managing the development process from project initiation to publishing is the responsibility of the owning unit. AITS provides guidance, but limited support in these areas. 
  • External Integrations: Any external databases or applications hosted externally to the SitePublish environments will remain the responsibility of the owning unit. Any integrations must comply with AITS SitePublish security standards and use guidelines.
